Arsenal – professional football club, also known as «The Gunners». Based in North London, this successful English football team is known as one of the leading clubs in England. Arsenal was founded in 1886 by the group of workers at the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory. In 1891 the Club turned professional and changed its name to Woolwich Arsenal; the club joined the Football League in 1893.
